PRACTICE AREAS

MARITAL AND FAMILY LAW

Marital and family law encompasses legal matters involving marriage, divorce, child custody, support, property division, and related domestic issues. It focuses on guiding individuals and families through some of life’s most personal transitions with clarity, discretion, and effective legal advocacy.

PROBATE

Probate law involves the legal process of administering a deceased person’s estate, including validating wills, distributing assets, settling debts, and resolving any disputes. It ensures that an individual’s final affairs are handled properly, efficiently, and in accordance with the law.

GUARDIANSHIPS

Guardianship law involves the legal appointment of an individual or entity to care for and make decisions on behalf of a person who is unable to do so themselves. This may include managing personal, medical, or financial affairs to ensure the individual’s well-being and protection under the law.

TAX LAW

Tax law governs the rules and regulations related to the assessment, collection, and enforcement of taxes. It includes advising individuals and businesses on compliance, resolving disputes with tax authorities, and representing clients in audits, appeals, and litigation to address complex tax matters.

ESTATE PLANNING

Estate planning involves preparing for the management and distribution of assets during life and after death. It includes the creation of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other legal instruments designed to protect assets, provide for loved ones, and ensure an individual’s wishes are carried out efficiently and effectively.

CIVIL LITIGATION

Civil litigation involves the legal process of resolving non-criminal disputes between individuals, businesses, or other entities. It encompasses matters such as contract disputes, property issues, and other claims, and may be resolved through negotiation, settlement, or courtroom proceedings.

BUSINESS LAW

Business law governs the formation, operation, and management of businesses and commercial transactions. It encompasses a wide range of matters, including contracts, business formation, compliance, disputes, and strategic counsel to support companies in operating effectively and within the bounds of the law.

QUALIFIED DOMESTIC RELATIONS ORDERS

A Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO) is a court order used in divorce or separation to divide retirement accounts like 401(k)s or pensions. It allows a spouse to receive a portion of retirement benefits without early withdrawal penalties, as long as it meets plan rules and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act requirements. It must be carefully drafted and approved to ensure the division is done correctly and avoids tax or benefit issues.

MODIFICATIONS & ENFORCEMENT

Modifications and enforcement involve changing or ensuring compliance with existing court orders, such as those for child support, alimony, or custody. A modification is requested when there has been a significant change in circumstances, while enforcement is used when a party is not following the current order. These legal actions help ensure court orders remain fair, accurate, and properly followed.
